Doctoral boards are obliged to supervise and assess doctoral study programmes. The role of doctoral boards is to:

• suggest and manage changes in doctoral study programmes,
• discuss and assess the academic progress of doctoral students,
• propose doctoral thesis supervisors and, through the agency of the Dean, to submit suggestions (including suggestions about the curriculum) to the Scientific Board for approval,
• discuss the topics of doctoral dissertations and to submit them to the Scientific Board for approval (along with the names of suggested supervisors),
• specify the requirements for admission to the doctoral state exam,
• propose the members of the Doctoral State Examination Committee and submit suggestions to the Dean for approval; propose the dates and times of doctoral state examinations,
• propose the members of the Doctoral State Examination Committee for the purpose of dissertation thesis defence and submit suggestions to the Dean for approval; propose the dates and times of dissertation thesis defences,
• propose the members of the Admissions Committee for the admission of students into study programmes and submit suggestions to the Dean for approval
