Striving to Improve Living Conditions (not Only) in The Pilsen Region
The results of our research activities often serve as a basis for decision-making not only for political officials of the city of Pilsen or the Pilsen Region, but also for many other actors in society. In recent years, in cooperation with the City of Pilsen, we have focused, for example, on homelessness, education, or the level of satisfaction with social services. The aim of the research is, for instance, to analyse the needs and demands of various groups, from families to the elderly, to foreigners, to the homeless, proposing strategies to assist these groups, for instance through the services provided by the Department of Social Services, or to suggest ways to expand the services provided. We focused our educational research on high school students and their motivations for choosing and applying to universities, or on the public and their perception of the University of West Bohemia, in order to use the data to suggest strategies for improving the University's relationship with the public.
As the last of the current research, we can mention a project focusing on developing a tool for evaluating the integration process of foreigners and subsequently increasing the effectiveness of integration work. Part of the activities of the project team is to properly train the integration staff of the Refugee Facilities Administration of the Ministry of the Interior in the use of new methodologies. And to familiarise them with other aspects of integration work.
