The Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen was established on 3 January 2005 as an outcome of renaming of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of West Bohemia (UWB) in Pilsen, authorized by the Accreditation Commission of the Czech Republic during its 9 February 1999 session.

Despite its relative youth, the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen represents a dynamic and fully fledged academic centre with a developed educational and research programme, which provides an attractive and inspiring environment in which to prepare for future profession and carry out further training.
